Perception

“Perspective, light and motion to create a perception with independence from the norm.”

In my opinion, abstract photography uses a language of perspective, light and movement to create a perception which exists with independence from the usual visual references. That ‘language’ is also not necessarily clear, focused or of the time scale we normally experience.

I would suggest the majority of my work often has some form of abstraction: Black-and-white, long exposure and camera movement. I enjoy distorting the normally identifiable using those and other techniques.

Long exposures allow me to blend time into a single frame, creating images that are fluid and surreal. Intentional camera movement introduces further unpredictability. These methods transform true-life into surreal compositions.

By using unusual perspectives and revealing only parts of my subjects, I aim to disguise their true composition, making each piece a puzzle to solve. I hope you enjoy Perception.
