Place
Portfolios“Reflections, shapes and points of view to present urban scenes from a unique perspective.”
Urban photography traditionally captures city life, focusing on buildings, streets, and the interaction between people and their environment. My approach diverges from this by emphasising the qualities of the place, such as light, texture and form, rather than the direct representation of the landscape.
My pictures explore how light and shadow contribute to creating compelling urban impressions. I like to capture reflections, shapes and points of view to present the scene from a unique perspective. This vision allows for a reinterpretation of the urban spaces.
I focus on the aesthetic qualities of urban environmental photography. I do not exclude people but prefer to include them to tell a story, define scale or suggest a hint of their inclusion.
This approach seeks to present the urban landscape not just as a physical space but as a canvas for its many constituent parts.
Viewers can look at urban environments from a fresh perspective. You will see I often incorporate abstraction techniques, whether that’s in camera with blur or during the processing process.
I hope this work encourages an appreciation of the potential that urban settings offer and how my interpretation creates an equine difference with street photos.
